I am going to be a Senior Multidisciplinary Painting Major this upcoming fall. I love to paint and I am very interested in the Gallery scene. I met up with Michele Kishita in her Philadelphia Studio two days a week for the summer. I had a blast seeing her work up close and getting the vibes of her studio life. Michele is being featured in an exhibition called RSVP 2012 at the LG Tripp Gallery! (which is still open till August 18th)
I helped Michele prepare her paintings by painting the edges, helping wire and fix up any rough spots. I never realized how much work has to be put into finished pieces for a gallery. It's not easy ! You have to be extremely delicate as possible and I now know all the rules to handling Michele's pieces. Each painting has to be wrapped and in perfect condition to be sent over to the gallery. There were a lot of inconveniences that Michele and I had to go through but in the end we were able to get the paintings to the Gallery safely. I didn't realize how difficult it is to deliver your work to a gallery and I was glad to be there to help Michele ! Now I know what I could hopefully eventually get myself into!
